Astrid considers herself a global nomad. She was born in Holland, raised in Canada and has lived and worked in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Madagascar, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Republic of Korea, Washington DC, Atlanta .
Astrid’s work experience includes a 25 year career in the Canadian Foreign Service where she was the first woman to be appointed to the position of Consul General for the South Eastern states, and the first women appointed to the level of Minister Counsellor at the Canadian Embassy in Washington DC where she oversaw the entire scope of Canada-USA Trade the largest trading relationship in the world.
In recent years, Astrid has run the Georgia Council for International Visitors, the Society of International Business Fellows and the Global Network Foundation.
A passionate advocate for the economic empowerment of women, Astrid consults with and connects women focused NGO’s, UN Institutions, government policy makers, businesses interested in the women’s market and women business owners .
Astrid is pursuing her doctorate degree in Leadership with a particular focus on women’s leadership at the Union Institute and University in Cincinnati. She is a member of the Mayor’s of Atlanta’s Advisory Council for Women, and sits on several non profit boards.
