Once a hire is made, we will provide up to three months of ongoing development training on fundraising best practices, including how to develop a written annual fund plan with goals, volunteer organization and job descriptions, budgets, schedules and fundraising strategies. We will also review the most effective systems and procedures, including preparing for meetings, prospect research, supporting volunteers, drafting strategy memos and proposals, stewardship, and tracking data.
Training will conclude with a two-hour training workshop for executive and development staff, Board members, and fundraising volunteers. The workshop, titled “Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Ask?,” will relieve the “terror” some volunteers have about asking for money and will prepare staff and Board to make effective fundraising calls without the sweat, tears or anguish.
